Hong Kong Summer Holiday 2014

Hey everyone!

So in March, my parents booked a holiday for me to go Hong Kong in June after my exams, was super excited! I planned out some have to go places, wrote a checklist of things to bring and got myself ready for a stress-free holiday. It was the first time for me to go back since 4 years ago when I moved back to London.

Now that I am back from the month and a week long holiday, I wanted to write about it and keep a good diary about it.

19th/20th July 2014 - Day I fly
The day has come! Its the day I fly to the other side of the world! My flight was at 5:00pm. I got up around 9am to get ready and do some last minute packing. My dad came back around 1pm and took me to the airport. I felt super lucky that I am going on holiday by myself for the first time ever! When we got there, I took a quick snap with the work "Heathrow Terminal 1", can't miss that out! We then checked in, I had a big yellow suitcase and a small back suitcase as hand luggage. After I checked in, we headed to the departure hall, got myself ready and said goodbye to my dad and thanked him for taking me to the airport. The next step was to go through security and customs. That was pretty quick, so I went inside and checked out some shops and checked out the gate number for my flight, but guess it was still early so it wasn't on the board. I looked around to see what shops were around me, I saw Starbucks at the edge of my eye, so decided that i'll treat myself with a nice Caramel Frappuccino, my favourite! After that, i checked the board again and headed to the lounge. It was still early so there wasn't many people there. As time went past, more and more people arrived.
They finally started calling people onto the plane, row by row, and it was my turn! I packed my stuff and made my way to the door and eventually found my seat, put my suitcase at the top and sat down. I chose a window seat near the wings, so that I can see the beautiful view and also have more space compared to the seats next to me. A girl came over and sat a seat away from me. A few minutes later, this guy started walking towards my seat, we looked at each other and smiled. He was the person that sat next to me. He wore a Polo shirt with shorts, smart casual look. I was so excited about the whole plane experience that I posted a picture on Facebook, showed my window view on Snapchat and shared with my friends on Instagram. The guy next to me probably thought I was some social geek. haha
After about 10-20 minutes, we started to make a move, the plane was moving towards the runway, then ZOOOM!, we were taking off! The view was beautiful, looking at the view just like a bird, I saw the River Themes, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, and many more places.
The cabin crew started giving out drinks and nuts about an hour later, I had a cup of apple juice but didn't eat the pack of nuts.
I started watching films. Its amazing how technolgy is now advancing, a few years ago it was still a remote control to control the screen, but now its touch screen!
A few hours later, it was dinner time, and I managed to finish my food with a nice ice cream on the side.
The film options was alright, kind of ran out of films later so tried to sleep, same with the guy next to me, but we couldn't sleep, guess it wasn't comfy enough for us, so we started chatting. He told me about his work, life, and his educations, sharing experience and thoughts. He was a great guy to chat with! It was a very interesting chat! A friend with making! He also told me about this place called Mauritius, he told me that it is a beautiful yet a place thats hard to get to. And he told me that there is this animal called a do-do that only exists there and has already extinct in other places. That was really interesting. He also managed to sit straight through-out the flight which I found amazing! After a nice chat, we thought we would watch a film together, I recommended a Hong Kong film that was out not long ago and my dad had already watched it. Turns out that the film was so dramatic that it was quite emotional, I saw him wipe his tears at the edge of my eye, and so did I.
After a 12 hour flight, we finally got there, he helped me bring my suitcase down and walked together along with the girl on the same row. We passed the customs and went to pick up our suitcase. He was the first one to get his, and left...ours took another 20 minutes to arrive...
Does anyone else like to keep in contact after meeting someone that you thought you and them go along well? Cause I do! but sadly we didn't get to...
My cousin came to pick me up from the airport and helped me carry some stuff. We went to my great grandma's house as I would be staying with her. After we put down the stuff, we went to a shopping centre nearby and went around places. Got a few thing then went back to my great grandma's for dinner.

21st June 2014 - Day 2
My sleeping time was pretty messed up last night, got tired around 7pm, slept for about an hour or two and got up again, fell asleep around 12am for about an hour and got up again, it wasn't till 6am where I could actually sleep properly, slept till about 12pm and got up and prepared myself for the first day out.
Today, I decided to go to Mongkok as i missed those cheap stalls! Went out of Mongkok station and went into this shop called Bossini, then Etude House (a Korean makeup store), then made my way to Ladies Market. I got myself quite a few things, a nice tote bag for $100 (£7.61), some stationary and gifts for friends.
After all that, I took the train to Kowloon Tong and went Festival Walk, a shopping centre. Went McDonalds and got myself a nice and cheap dinner. Sat around for an hour and did some research on places to go. After dinner, I went for more walkies around the shopping centre, I stood at the side for a bit looking at my phone to check out the time, then I suddenly heard "oh look! thats the girl i met on the plane!". It was him! The guy that sat next to me! He was with a friend and walked past me...I followed. I didnt recognise him at first, he looked...different...he cut his hair...sadly, he didnt stop down and say hi, he just kept walking. I was trying to figure out if it was him, i looked at his watch, yes the same, i looked at his shoes, yes the same, I looked at his face, he looked a bit different. But it was just so great to have seen him again after the flight together :) it just made me smile :)

My plane has arrived!!

Don't you think that's just utterly beautiful?

I'm flying like a bird!

Time to get on the plane...
